Tiger Woods, 9 times player of the year in the PGA
It seems like Tiger Woods is a player out of any ones range, in 11 years he has being voted by fellow golfers as player of the year and has received the Jack Nicklaus Trophy 9 times (the last 3 in a row) and it seems like his nearest contender is far away from his achievements.
"I don't see anyone close. I don't see who the next guy is." Said pro golfer Brad Faxon.
Even when Woods hasn’t done as well as in past seasons, there is a still a big gap between him and Phil Mickelson, his nearest rival, Woods has won 4 PGA championships and Mickelson only 1, in a more broad sense, Woods has 13 major titles and Mickelson only 3.
Woods is one of those players that comes every decade or so, even more in a sport that is not as popular as Football or Baseball, he has won 61 official PGA Tour events, and an extra 20 individual professional titles and was just ranked as number one at the official World Golf Rankings, he has set a few records including the one for the highest Points Average with 32.44 (1459.64 points averaged over 45 events).
This is the seventh time Woods gets the three biggest awards on tour: the Jack Nicklaus Trophy for player of the year, the Arnold Palmer Award for leading the money list ($10.8 million) and the Byron Nelson Award for lowest scoring average (67.79).
Tiger Woods is not just an exceptional golfer , he also has a major in economics from Stanford University and has become a real role model, he thinks golf is just a tool for him to get to others, specially kids; he along with his parents put together The Tiger Woods Foundation to help poor children.
Without a question, he will remain as number one for a long time, the guy has good opponents but no real contenders.
“I really do believe he was put here for a bigger reason than just to play golf. I don't think that he is a god, but I do believe that he was sent by One.” Said former NBA phenomenon Michael Jordan.
