Phillies are world champions

The Phillies are the winners of the World Series. The clinch of the title came in game 5 and the series ended 4-1 favoring Philadelphia. Game 5 took place again as it was suspended on Monday due to rain and wind, and that is the first time it happens in World series history. The game got suspended at the sixth inning with both teams tied at 2

When the game resumed yesterday, the Phillies took an advange on their half of the sixth, but the Rays put things even again at 3 in the top of the seventh. Then the Phillies will come to take the definitive lead in their half of the 7th for the final score of 4-3.

Even though the Rays lost the World Series there is no doubts that this was a prosperous season since they’d never have a winning year in their 10-year run at the MLB, proof of that is that they finished last in their division 9 of their previous 10 seasons.

For the Phillies this was just their second MLB championship in more than 100 years since the franchise’s start, their first World Series title came in 1980. The city of Philadephia is ready to honor their baseball champs with a big parade on Friday.

At least a couple of million people is expected to attend to the parade, if not more.

Since the game was split in two, I believe this is the first time in history that American baseball fans (especially kids) could saw a World Series champion before late night.

I think it’s great when a city that has professional sports in hockey, basketball and baseball to at least enjoy a championship title every once and then, now the Phillies were the ones in charge of bringing some joy to the city.

Congratulations to the 2008 World Series champions: the Phillies.
